We re-released our Canon 100 mm Gear this week. We implemented the new design from the 100 mm IS gear into this gear. You still get access to the zoom knob for manual focusing. You don't need to take your hand off to focus anymore with our gear sets. You can get this gear for the Aquatica, Sea & Sea and Subal (Type 4 only ports) housings. We have tested it for the Canon 5D mk II and are pretty confident that it will work with the 7D housings as well. We hope to test it in one soon. For Subal, it will also work with the 1DS mk III.

At the Scuba Show in Long Beach, Backscatter (www.backscatter.com) also showed our new Canon 100mm IS gear set for Subal. You can buy the basic starter kit for the 100 IS lens. Then when you are ready, you can add either the 1.4x tele-converter gear or a 2x tele-converter gear for super macro work. I love this new gear set myself. I tested it out for 4 weeks in Dumaguete, it was easy to put on and use. If you use it with one of our focus knobs, I assure you will love the manual control with just your finger tips.

Michael will have to let you in on what he is currently working on. But I can tell you one thing here. He is finishing up the design for the Canon 100mm IS lens gear set for Aquatica, Sea&Sea and Subal.

We have some wishes already from previous emails. Here is what we may create in the future:

1) Focus Gear and Zoom Gear for the Canon 70-200mm IS lens.

2) A Port Cap for the Wide Angle Port on the Sea Tools Housing

3) A heavy duty lanyard like our Aqua Pencil Tethers

4) Color Charts for White Balancing. Gray Scale, RGB Color Bar or Cyan Colors.

5) A PentaMirror for the DSLR Video Backs for the underwater housings.

That is just to name a few. We will gladly take all your ideas and if we can make it a viable product we will!

At the Scuba Show in Long Beach, Backscatter (www.backscatter.com) showed our new DSLR Tripod Bracket. This bracket allows you to mount it to the bottom of your housing. Right now it works with Aquatica, Sea&Sea, Subal, Ikelite and Seacam. You can then attach the legs of your choice with an Ultralight clamp. You can also attach your Light and Motion battery pods on the rails.
